Which project are you most satisfied with?

Start of new ERP in Dacsa Group in May 2021. The support of management and company property, the work team (BPO and KU), the consultant and the amazing team I have, especially in IT, made this possible. one of the most important projects of my professional career to be successful.

If all the benefits of the company were responsible for the IT department, what would you want to implement?

I would work to turn data first into information and then into intelligence. Artificial intelligence, vision systems, robotization, automation, etc. would invest.

Is security an issue?

Lack of cybersecurity awareness is a problem. The lack of tools to try to make things harder for the bad guys is a problem. It is a problem to think that we are not the target of cybercriminals.

A cybersecurity incident can be much more than an issue.

What challenges does an industry like yours face?

Crowded every year and more: To list a few:

  • Data: State, quality, securitization, unique data and overall evaluation of data.
  • Industry 4.0: sensorization, automation, machine vision, augmented reality, machine learning, artificial intelligence, etc.
  • Work in mobility
  • Etc.
  • Always cross with another challenge, not forgetting Cyber Security.
Can you work from home?

You can work from home and sometimes have to work from home. I think it should be a very profitable and occasional option to offer it to workers who may need it at some point, not a definitive “isolation”.

What main trends do you observe in the ICT world?

Data management, artificial intelligence, robotization, industry 4.0 in general and cybersecurity as a cross axis all the time.

What is the tool that truly changed your life?

If we think of Spectrum as a tool, that’s what really changed my life, fascinated me and made me dedicate myself to this fantastic profession.

I spent my days and nights programming in Basic with my Spectrum, tape and black and white television. I studied without taking the exam just because I liked it.

This was my first contact with computers and it hooked me so much that I could never put it down.

Tired of solving tech problems of your family and friends? What do they usually want?

The truth is, they are asking less and less. Generation Y, Z etc. already here. born with new technologies added to the fact that systems and equipment are increasingly intuitive and simple.

How about extracting the value of data, will that really mean the evolution of companies like yours?

As I mentioned earlier in the same interview, there is something waiting to be discovered, there is a whole world of intelligence and prediction in the data we have and the data we will have. Of course, it could mean a very significant change in the company.

What is this digital transformation? Slogan or need?

Slogan and need. As I dedicate myself to this wonderful profession that is computers, I’ve dedicated all my years of work to digitally transforming companies I’ve been lucky enough to work for. It is true that there are more and more powerful tools, but the more or less ambitious goal is the same. Whatever the name.

Is the R+D+i thing an urban legend?

I don’t think so, but sometimes technological innovation is confused as an end rather than a means. Indeed, technology can and should assist this research and development process, but without ideas, without initiatives, without a solution that responds to a real need, there is no innovation, technological or any kind of innovation.

In the cloud or on-premises?

On the cloud. Others’ maintenance of servers and operating systems, updating systems and applications, seamless migration and upgrades, etc. I prefer to let him take care of business. and add value, think, improve things, listen to work, etc. I dedicate people I’ve been lucky enough to work with.

Is the lack of safety knowledge of customers and employees the main challenge?

It is undoubtedly one of the main security vulnerabilities in companies. This is a constant challenge. That’s why at Dacsa Group we launch awareness campaigns every year to try to convey to them the importance of each employee in the “defense” of company systems.

How does technology help to get the best rice?

Connected color machines, moisture, granulometry, etc. that eliminate rice grains that do not meet our quality standards. We apply a variety of technologies, such as analyzing photos. in real time in the cloud, etc. Packaging is fully automated, including robots for specific tasks. Barcodes, PDAs, factory-zero paper, traceability, MES, SGA, ERP etc. systems. They help us to have complete and up-to-date information about all our processes. There are different technologies that help us get the best rice for our demanding customers.

Is the supply chain a problem? How can ICT help improve management?

The supply chain must be in continuous improvement as each process, from the purchase of raw materials to the delivery of the final product to the customer, passes through related areas such as logistics, production, marketing and finance. , etc.

And as an intersecting area across the company, ICT can and should assist its management. Purchasing management, payments, fleet management, production planning, customer relations, sales etc. examples. they need to be digitally converted to continually optimize them. There is always room for improvement.

Can AI help make a better paella or can only a human do it?

Be careful because we are entering rough terrain here. You are talking to a Valencian and also a great paella cook! Valencian paella is an art. AI can paint, but only a genius like Sorolla can produce true art. Something similar to paella. Cooking paella can be done by many people, maybe even by a system. But cooking a paella with different nuances, improving it every Sunday, this can only be done by an artist, of course with Valencia and Dacsa rice!
